Frequently Asked Questions

What classes do you offer?

We offer classes for ages 3 and up in preschool, pre-primary, primary, ballet, jazz/hip hop, tap, and lyrical. Our program also includes adult classes, a parent/child class and a boy's class.

At what level will my child be placed?

Class placement is done at the discretion of the program directors. Placement is based upon age, ability and experience.

Can my child take classes whenever (s)he wants and what type of commitment is required?

The classes at NHAPA run from mid-September through the beginning of June. A commitment to class attendance is extremely important for a young dancer's progress. Occasionally, students may be added to classes mid-year if space permits. NHAPA also runs a Summer Camp/Intensive program.

How will I be kept informed of holidays, upcoming events and other school information?

Parents will receive a handbook, a calendar and bimonthly newsletters. The newsletters, calendars and other current information will also be posted here, on our website calendar.

Is there a dress code?

Yes, we do have a mandatory dress code. Girls: NHAPA logo leotard (style assigned in class), pink footed tights, and pink ballet slippers. For jazz/tap class, girls may wear black jazz pants. In all classes hair must be neat and secured up and off the face and neck. No large earrings or hanging jewelry are permitted. Boys: White NHAPA t-shirt, black pants, black jazz boots, and black oxford taps. The NHAPA logo leotard is only available at The Stage of Newburyport retail location along with our list of approved shoes by class. Shoes as well as tights are also available online at www.curtaincallforclass.com.

Do you have a recital?

Yes, all students participate in our year end performance which will be held May 30, 31 and June 2 at Winnacunnet High School in Hampton.
